Lottomatica is the worldwide leading lottery operator in terms of overall wagers and, through its subsidiary GTECH, is among the world's leading suppliers of technological solutions for lotteries and games. It is directly controlled by De Agostini SpA (59,8%), operating in the editorial business for over 100 years and, more recently, in the media and financial sectors.

In August 2006 Lottomatica - investing €3,6 billion in the second largest buyout ever secured by an Italian company in the US - acquired GTECH Corporation, a worldwide leading operator in the sector of high security processing systems for online lotteries. Also thanks to the acquisition of the US giant, Lottomatica Group is the only company operating in the lottery business capable of offering a 360° fully integrated series of services and products to its private and institutional clients.

The objective for Lottomatica Group is the further reinforcement of its worldwide leadership as a commercial operator and technology provider to the gaming market through a unique offer of best-in-class products and services. Such an objective is pursued by the Company by means of a top-level commitment to integrity, responsibility and value creation for the shareholders. In 2008, Lottomatica was the first Italian company in the gaming sector to introduce an annual Social Report and to adopt a Corporate Social Responsibility program aimed at promoting responsible gaming throughout all of its product portfolio, communications, and activities.

Lottomatica Group is active in the worldwide gaming market in the following sectors: lotteries (online, instant and traditional); gaming solutions (products and services for videolottery terminals and new slot machines); sports betting; interactive and skill games (multi-channel entertainment services such as bingo and poker); commercial services (ticketing and non gaming-related payments such as parking tickets). Lottomatica is a fully private company operating in Italy, as the holder of exclusive State concessions - granted by the Italian Gaming Regulator AAMS - for games like instant and traditional lotteries. Lottomatica is also, a licensed operator - thus in competition with other operators - in the sectors of sports betting, interactive games, and commercial services. The Group is also operating directly as Lottomatica/GTECH in the worldwide markets according to the specific legislations and rules applied by each government.
