“Lottomatica is one of the leading game market players, and is aware that the Company operates in a sector where business growth must be accompanied by respect and protection of the community in which it operates. The well-established culture of transparency and integrity, which is also one of the key objectives in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility, translates into the Group’s wealth of professionalism, motivation, technological expertise and the set of rules and procedures governing the business, management choices, the dialogue with the market and, more generally, the Group’s relations with stakeholders, which are necessary in order to carry out its activities.”
Lorenzo Pellicioli, President of Lottomatica Group
Identity
The Lottomatica Group’s identity is based on the principle of sustainable growth, guided by the conviction that the gaming sector requires responsible development that is mindful of the social issues involved in this industry. The Company has made this awareness the foundation of its history and identity, which is symbolically represented by its official logo, which conveys the stance of a worldwide integrated gaming operator and technology provider. The image of the globe in the Company’s name emphasises its international scope, and the use of gaming colours and symbols reflects the entertainment aspect of our business. The Logo’s subtitle “Responsibly Driving Global Gaming” defines Lottomatica’s business approach. Responsibility is a crucial aspect of a business that primarily involves managing government-regulated games.
Consistent with this awareness, in 2009, Lottomatica obtained certification of compliance with the responsible gaming standards established by the European Lotteries Association and the World Lottery Association awarded the company the highest level of certification offered by the WLA Responsible Gaming Framework.
Vision
Play is a physiological element that cannot be eliminated from people’s lives. Lottomatica meets the social demand for games through a range of products that is firmly rooted in a desire to promote a culture of rules, designed to promote morality and combat illegal forms of gaming.
Lottomatica is committed to promoting a responsible gaming culture in order to support a gaming approach that reduces social costs and creates the conditions under which individuals can make informed choices.
Mission
Lottomatica Group’s mission is to consolidate and grow its position as leading commercial operator and technology provider on the world gaming market by offering advanced solutions, services and products with a steadfast commitment to integrity, responsibility and shareholder value creation. The Group is mindful that it operates in a sector in which, given the associated social implications, it must gain and maintain stakeholders’ trust by fully complying with relevant regulations and ensure that it demonstrates ethical and responsible behaviour.
Strategies
The Group’s strategic objective is to maintain its global leadership in the regulated gaming market and to pursue opportunities that enhance its prestige nationally and internationally, maintaining its Investment Grade Credit rating. Critical variables for the business in the coming years may be summarised as follows:
- technology is increasingly an enabling factor for new gaming applications, and accordingly determine overlap/convergence among traditionally distinct sectors of the industry;
- at the same time technology is likely to become a commodity for less innovative applications, with the result that having a good position with respect to costs will be a key factor for specific customer segments;
- content will increasingly differentiate products and services in the market.
The Group’s strategies are divided by product lines:
In the Lotteries sector, the goals are to continue to accelerate the increase in sales for existing contracts through increased volumes of distribution and by introducing new content; to win new jurisdictions and opportunities; to develop and acquire new content; to launch new distribution platforms, with particular attention to interactive channels for online lotteries. The Group intends to continue promoting the Lotto and to develop the instant lottery market by expanding its product portfolio and access to interactive services.
In the Gaming Solutions sector, the Group intends to leverage the expertise gained in the areas of lotteries and gaming solutions in order to develop its VLT operations, and intends to continue its growth in commercial gaming through Spielo and Atronic, which operate in the production and delivery of video slot machines, systems and games.
In the Sports Betting sector, the Group has acquired extensive experience through its “Better” brand in Italy, used by Finsoft Limited. The recent acquisition of Toto Carovigno S.p.A., an Italian company operating in the field of online betting, a concessionaire for sports betting and horse racing betting, has enabled the Group to add to its fold the leading telephone and online betting services operator. The Group intends to continue to grow in the Sports Betting segment, based on its expertise and customer relationships.
The Group has created the GTECH G2 segment in the interactive games and services sector, by acquiring Finsoft, Boss Media and St. Enodoc, whose operations have been combined into a single operating unit that supplies games, systems and advanced digital services to approximately 150 customers worldwide, including lotteries in Sweden, Austria, USA, Switzerland, Chile and Belgium, as well as to the Group.
In the Commercial Services area, in Italy the Group provides services for processing high volumes of transactions that are not connected to lotteries. The Group intends to offer such services only in commercial markets where the supply is economically profitable.
