


Renato Ascoli
Born in 1961 in Cittiglio, Varese, Italy, he graduated in Economic and Social Studies (Discipline Economiche e Sociali) with the Bocconi University in Milan in 1987. In the same year he became a research fellow at the same university and a consultant to Ambrosetti Group, supporting the internationalization process of the Group (Spain, England and USA). Within the cooperation with Alfredo Ambrosetti, he participated to the coordination of the “Europa 92” project and of three other editions of the annual workshop of Villa D’Este, as well as to a project aimed at improving the management control of the Group.
In 1989 he became head of international marketing of Fincentro Group – Armando Curcio Editore, where he was responsible for the commercial exploitation of the publishing assets of the Group, as well as a member of the Management Committee and cooperated in defining the strategic and management asset of the many companies comprising the Group.
From 1992 to 2005 he carried out his activity for the national railway system Ferrovie dello Stato / Trenitalia, where he started as head of Administration, Budget and Control of the Local Transport Division to be later appointed to head of Strategies, Planning and Control of the Transport Area. After three years he was appointed head of the Passengers Commercial Unit. In 2000 he was appointed Marketing Director of the Passengers Division and become a member of the Board of Directors of Artesia (a FS-SNCF company with headquarters in Paris, for the management of the railway traffic between Italy and France) and of Cisalpino (a FS-SBB company, with headquarters in Zurich, for the management of the railway traffic between Italy and Switzerland), of which he was Chairman in 2006. In 2001 he was appointed Director of Operations and Passengers Division, an office that was held until 2005, when the Company appointed him head of International Development of Trenitalia.
In 2006 he joined Lottomatica Group as Director of the Gaming Division. In 2007 he was appointed Director of the Gaming and Services Division and, since April 2009, he is General Manager of Lottomatica Group.
