Our Company considers its staff and associates to be an important stakeholder. The quality of services offered is largely dependent on employees. Success also depends on staff training and experience, and our employees' motivation and commitment to the company’s objectives. With the 2006 GTECH acquisition by Lottomatica, the Group increased its global business activities due to a permanent presence of its employees in several countries throughout the world. The Lottomatica Group has operations in 52 countries worldwide on every continent and deals with various ethnicities and nations with different levels of local employment laws. In order to meet these various requirements, Lottomatica complies with the principles of the International Labor Office’s Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and its social policy (Geneva 2000). In particular, the Group complies with all of the recommendations in the aforementioned declaration with regard to relations with staff in the various states. Particular reference is made to the promotion of employment and the stability of their status as employees, equal opportunity, treatment and professional development, the safeguarding and improvement of working conditions, safety and hygiene at work, guarantees of freedom of union organization, consultation and counselling, and collective bargaining. Lottomatica Group can count a total work force of more than 7.600 employess worldwide, in line with previous years. The Group engages in various types of employment relations, depending on the countries in which it operations, and contracts are always in compliance with the local regulations in force. In Italy, almost all of Lottomatica S.p.A.'s staff and those of its subsidiaries are hired on a permanent basis. In particular, as of December 31, 2010, there were only two temporary employees, reflecting a progressive decline over the past few years. Furthermore, GTECH’s staff are hired with permanent contracts, which confirms that the entire Group guarantees stability everywhere over the long term.
